Delbert Anderson, member of the Navajo tribe, born in Shiprock, NM, discovered his interest in music at the age of three. Singing and playing drums for the church is where Anderson's inspiration for music emerged.  In elementary school his parents purchased his first instrument, the trumpet.  It was not until middle school Delbert found his love for jazz.  In high school, Anderson began playing with the college jazz band and found his true passion, improvisation.  Delbert attended Eastern New Mexico University studying music education and trumpet performance.  Anderson now resides in Kirtland, NM performing and educating with the Delbert Anderson Trio as a Cannonball/Inderbinen artist and educator.
